ILF project cooked up at Nhulunbuy!
We were privilaged to have been invited to take part in an Indigenous Literacy Foundation project on the Gove Peninsular from Wednesday October 25 to Wednesday November 1.
We worked with approximately 30 Indigenous students, ranging from 7 to 13 years, in the ESL unit at the Nhulunbuy Primary School. Days were chock-a-block full of fun and work. The kids personally introduced us to their salt water country on a trip out to the beaches. The animals and plants, land and sea, featured in their drawings, paintings and words. So much creative energy was captured in these using an exciting range of art materials and tools, including charcoal picked up from a campfire on the beach!
A picture book we'll all be proud of will surely grow from these before too long.

Read more about this project on our events page and on the ILF website ...
