The Australian Children's Laureate
Morris Gleitzman's two-year term as Australian Children's Laureate ends in December.
It's been a wonderful two years. As most know Morris is an inspiring speaker with a strong message and an entertaining delivery and this was the case when he wrapped up his amazingly full term as Laureate at the Melbourne farewell for him on Thursday November 28 at The Wheeler Centre. The enthusiastic and appreciative audience included illlustrator Andrew Weldon who has been an important collaborator in the delivery of Morris's messages as Laureate, designing and illustrating Stories Make Us, the perpetual calendar created for Morris’s two year term.
Morris was also given a hearty farewell in Sydney on Wednesday 20 November at Penguin Random House where the attendees were entertained with an in-conversation between Morris and his longtime publisher and friend, Laura Harris , PRH Director.
